the truth, and the truth will make you free."
-- Jesus (John 8:31-32 RSV)
This blog is a communication tool for the men of City Christian Fellowship, Fort Smith, Arkansas. It's an ongoing newsletter, calendar of events, and quick access to what's going on within our group. The blog centers on words and vision for our men in 2012 and beyond -- a time of change, service to the King, and action, to make our earth lives count for the eternal. Blessings & Peace as you follow Him Who is Worthy.
“And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth shook and the rocks were split. The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection they entered the holy city and appeared to many.” (Matthew 27:50–53)
“Now the centurion, and those who were with him keeping guard over Jesus, when they saw the earthquake and the things that were happening, became very frightened and said, “Truly this was the Son of God!”” (Matthew 27:54)
IS that what it's going to take for you? Will it be too late then? Important questions!
“He shall receive a blessing from the Lord And righteousness from the God of his salvation. This is the generation of those who seek Him, Who seek Your face—even Jacob.Selah.” (Psalm 24:5–6)
“Lift up your heads, O gates, And be lifted up, O ancient doors, That the King of glory may come in! Who is the King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, The Lord mighty in battle.” (Psalm 24:7–8)
Who directs your way?
We give mental ascent to Psalm 23, “The LORD is my Shepherd, He leads...” and Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding...He will direct your paths”, but practically? Everyday? What’s our training and paradigm v.s. the Word of the Lord and reality of God? Who directs your paths? You or the LORD?
The bridge between these two ways of thinking and acting -- your control or His control of your path -- is TRUST.
It goes like this: [1] Hearing [2] Trust [3] Action. But central to 1 and 3 is 2 ... Trust is the catalyst to life in God. You must trust Him, listen and follow. More to come...
“For throughout all their journeys, the cloud of the Lord was on the tabernacle by day, and there was fire in it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel.” (Exodus 40:38)
““But the Levitical priests, the sons of Zadok, who kept charge of My sanctuary when the sons of Israel went astray from Me, shall come near to Me to minister to Me; and they shall stand before Me ...,” declares the Lord God.” (Ezekiel 44:15)
““Moreover, they shall teach My people the difference between the holy and the profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean.” (Ezekiel 44:23)
There is kingdom opportunity to stay the course when your culture is going astray... teaching God's people the difference between the holy and profane... -=db=-
I was meditating this morning and a thought about an old judgment against a friend flashed through my mind. The temptation is to dwell on it, but I felt I heard the Spirit say,
"Forget it.
Forgive it.
Go forward.
Go fast." -=db=-
"'He who follows Me, walks not in darkness,' says the Lord. These are the words of Christ by which we are told that we should imitate His life and manners if we want to be truly enlightened and delivered from all blindness of heart.
Let our chief endeavor, therefore, be to meditate upon the life of Jesus Christ."
Thomas a' Kempis (1379-1471) from The Imitation of Christ rewritten and updated by Harold J. Chadwick
Below are guiding WORDS and Thoughts we believe God has given us for the Season we’re in and the Season just ahead. Please consider, meditate, and act on what you hear. -=db=-
The Lord’s not saying, “Get ready, so I can come.” He’s saying, “I’m coming – get ready!”
“Proclaim this among the men of CCF; Prepare for war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up. Joel 3:9-11
“Martial your troops”. Micah 5:1
